The Academy and the College

Founded 1749

Franklin's proposal of 1749 became the Academy, then the College of Philadelphia, then the University. Its medical school of 1765 was the first in the colonies, and the diplomas, lecture tickets and syllabuses that came out of it fill a room of their own.
