"This 1757 Philadelphia printing was undertaken by the overseers of the press on behalf of the Society of Friends. ... The writings of Barclay and Pike are here considered together because the signatures are continuous, though apparently because of the differing pagination in the two pamphlets, Hildebrand, Evans, and Campbell treated them as separate entities"-Miller.
Barclay's defence of Quaker order against the antinomians, reprinted at the direction of the overseers of the press in 1757, with Pike's epistle on discipline. The collection holds Pike separately as well, in a copy from the library of Joseph Mickle Fox, the great collector of Franklin printing and Philadelphiana, with his gilt initials.

- Contemporary sheep, ruled in blind, housed in red cloth slipcase, with inner cloth chemise. Leather rubbed, front outer hinge starting, wear to spine ends and corners, lacks front free endpaper, scattered toning and foxing, else very good.
