The Fever

1793 and after

Yellow fever came to Philadelphia in August 1793 and killed perhaps five thousand people in a hundred days. What the collection holds on it runs from the official accounts and the death lists to the pamphlet war over the cause, and on through the epidemics of 1797, 1798 and 1799.
