Condie, Thomas, 1775?-1814. and Richard Folwell History of the pestilence, commonly called yellow fever, which almost desolated Philadelphia, in the months of August, September & October, 1798... Philadelphia: From the press of R. Folwell. [1799] 108, xxxi, [68] p.; 21 cm. (8vo) A readable (though somewhat fragmented) history of the Philadelphia epidemic of 1798, which the authors generously supplement with documents issued by the Board of Health, statements issued by the College of Physicians (#s 116-117) and Academy of Medicine (#3), newspaper articles, correspondence, etc. Throughout, the authors have tried to present a balanced view of the controversy between the proponents of contagion and non-contagion, importation and domestic origin. The final sixty-eight unnumbered pages contain a list of the dead (3,521 names).
