Though the title-page states this work is the first part of the first volume, no more were published until 1841, when the "Summary of the Transactions of College of Physicians" was begun.
The College of Physicians of Philadelphia was formed by Benjamin Rush in 1789.
** Label to pastedown of the Library of the New Haven Hospital, noted as a gift of Dr. E. H. Bishop, who was an important 20th c. American gynecologist.

The founding publication of the College of Physicians -- the institution Rush helped establish in 1789 and with which he would spend the 1793 epidemic in open conflict. The irony is precise: Rush contributed to Volume I of the Transactions in the same year he was publicly opposing the College's position on yellow fever's origins and treatment. This copy's New Haven Hospital stamps place it in medical education a century after the controversy it documents.
