The Paxton Boys
In the winter of 1763–64 frontiersmen from Paxton township murdered twenty Conestoga Indians under the government's protection and marched on Philadelphia; Franklin met them at Germantown and talked them home. This folio sheet is an eyewitness report of the rising, dated at Philadelphia in February 1764 — the raw material that Franklin's Narrative of the Late Massacres answered, and the beginning of the year that cost him his Assembly seat and sent him to London.
